Stop and Smell ... anything

My dearest Holden, today you and I went for a walk near our house.

Along the way we saw the bright green blades of grass, the rows and rows and rows of "sometimes corn," and the bright sky scattered with bouncing puffs of blue and gray.

We could smell the damp dark clay earth and the sharp soothing sweet scent of wildflowers.

We visited with the neighbor's cows ... though they were not interested in sitting for one of our pictures.

When we made our way back home, we stopped to admire daddy's handiwork ... part of the maple tree that once stood in the backyard of Mimi's and Pawpaw's house .... where I grew up.  Did you know that the tree outside of mommy's and daddy's room is a baby maple that came from that tree?  And that momma tree came from your Pawpaw's home way up north ... where he grew up.

Thank you for taking a walk with me ... you napped through most of it, but that's ok.

We will go for a walk, again ... soon.

Love,
Mommy
